FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILITY
Key verse: Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us
free, do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1
What is freedom? It is the spontaneous urge to do the right things at the right
time and the ability to do so not how our own ego tempts us to do. While
acts of evil entangle us in its will and make us slaves, letting divine love flow
through us will make us happy and satisfying. Jesus said,Truth shall make
you free.” The truth is that we are created by God for us to do good for God;
always treating others, without any distinction, as our brothers and sisters,
thereby striving for a perfect world that God loves and abides in.
This Truth became flesh in human form in Jesus Christ: so, it is Jesus who sets
us free. He offers this freedom through His Cross, and He paid the ransom
price fully with His life, thereby facilitating us to enjoy and exercise this
freedom. But freedom to do what?
Gal 2: 19, 20 says, “I am crucified with Christ. It is no more I that live; Christ
lives in me. The life that I now live is by faith… We should be servants not by
compulsion, but by our spontaneous response to the love shed forth on
Calvary. Because of our service to the Lord, we are servants of others – in all
spheres of activity – giving our best.
This should be our goal on a national level. Gandhiji said, “I want the freedom
of my country so that other countries may learn something from my free
country, so that the resources of my country may be utilized for the benefit
of mankind. Thus, as individuals, families, and communities, our role is to
truly offer ourselves at the foot of the Cross, to die for others. “Were the
whole realm of nature mine, that were an offering far too small.” God first,
others second, and I last is true freedom with responsibility!
With love and prayers,

YOUTH CHAPLAIN’S CORNER
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
As we welcome the fifth month of the year, it is a time when many of our
youths are facing exams. As we look into the first week of the May 2022
lectionary, we understand that the theme is: “Dignity of Labor and Divine
Commissioning”.
Our life is full of labor. If we are students, we are laboring; if we are workers,
we are laboring. Labor is tiring, but it is part of life.
The question is,For whom we are laboring? This is what
matters. Especially as students during this season of studying, why and for
whom are we studying?
In the Gospel portion for May 1(St. John 21:1-14), we see that the disciples
were fishing and toiling all night but still they caught nothing. They were not
able to see the results of their work. When we do not see the results of our
labor, it hurts us, and it is frustrating. We would feel like giving up. But the
Lord saw them and told them to set the net out again, and this time they
caught an overwhelming number of fish, and it was great!
We should also persevere in our life and keep trying without losing
hope. There will be seasons of failures, but if we know we are laboring for
the Lord, and not for ourselves, then in His time we will see how much of a
blessing we are. We must just commit ourselves to being faithful to God as
He has always been faithful to us.
This month [May] we will be having our Fifth Sunday NERYF Praise and
Worship night at the Epiphany MTC on May 29
th
, 2022, at 5:00 P.M. Our love
and prayers go out to all our youths taking the finals. We are awaiting a well-
deserved summer break to see all of you.
God bless everyone and have a blessed May!
Much Love,
Jess M. George Achen

Dearly Beloved in Christ,
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
Opinion surveys have become increasingly common in recent years. Polls are
commonly used by content creators on various social media sites. Based on
the results of the polls, people choose their attire for the day, cook supper, or
travel. We place a high significance on other people's opinions.
But, regardless of what others think, understanding one's position in God
and/or Christ Jesus should the core principle of our Christian existence. God
transforms our standing or perception through His Son because of God's
goodness and grace. According to Ephesians 2:6-7, we are what we are
because of "the incomparable riches of His grace."
What exactly is God’s grace? "God's riches at Christ's sacrifice" or "God's
unmerited love and mercy" are two typical definitions. The riches of God's
grace provide us with a new position in Christ, which makes all the difference
in leading a life of purpose and fulfillment. Most of the New Testament letters
written by the Apostle Paul make a clear difference between what God has
done for us via grace and how we are to live in light of that knowledge.
As the church is multigenerational, each generation has its own unique
perspective on what matters most to God and grace. The demand for
authenticity, goals, flexibility, efficiency, or even important community
activities all contribute to this image. I believe that the key thing is that grace
permits us to grow in our relationship with God. The church allows us to
grow and develop our relationships. I'll leave you with Jeff Bezos' words:
"What's dangerous is not to evolve."

3. Landscaping - yearly contract for much lower price and better service
4. Currently checking on car insurance along with other opportunities
8. Building Fund Collection

will make every effort to collect as much as possible from members who
remain in arrears regarding this obligation. This is an ongoing challenge.
9. Parish Retreat
Fifty-two families have registered for the Parish Retreat. Registration for the
parish retreat registration is complete and all available room capacity has
been used up. A site visit is planned soon. We are trying to secure more
rooms, and if successful, we will announce this information and try to
accommodate few more families and youths for the retreat. We have good
leaders this year and the planning for the retreat is currently underway.
10. Parish Picnic
The parish picnic is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2022. It will be held at the
Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. Please mark your calendars.
11. Contribution, Encouragement and Support by Members
We want to thank all members from the bottom of our hearts for
encouraging, supporting, and contributing to the needs of the parish on a
timely manner. We request all members who may have missed making any
payments such as subscription, refreshment, diocesan day and diocesan
fund, Racessa, self-denial, etc. – to make these payments as soon as possible.
The three-month contribution list has been placed in members mailboxes.
In Closing
D. L. Moody once observed that most people’s prayers should be “cut off at
both ends and set on fire in the middle.” People who pray as if this has been
done not only persist in faith, but also persevere through life. Persistent
prayer is the very essence of the life of faith.
Blessings and prayers,

Anyone can be a target for cybercriminals, and there are a variety of ways
that attacks can occur. Avoiding scams and predators online is critical for
anyone that spends time online, but even more for seniors. Few tips to keep
yourself secure in today’s online world
¾ Create passwords and make them strong. Lock all your devices including
computers, tablets, and smartphones with secure passwords.
¾ Secure access to your accounts. Since passwords can be stolen, adding
two-step authentication to accounts provides a second layer of
protection.
¾ Think before you act. Emails and communications that create a sense of
urgency, such as talking about a problem with your bank account or
taxes, are likely scams. Consider reaching out directly to the company by
phone to determine whether the email is legitimate. If an email looks
unusual, even if you know the person who sent it, it’s best to delete it.
Remember that scammers can commandeer friends’ email addresses
and send you messages posing as them. Turn on spam filters for your
email account to help filter suspicious messages.
¾ Use security software. Install security software on your devices from a
reliable source and keep it updated. It is best to run the anti-virus and
anti-spyware software regularly.
¾ Be wary of security updates from pop-up ads or emails. They may be
malware that could infect your computer.
¾ Ignore unsolicited phone calls androbocalls. Keep in mind that
government entities, such as the IRS, will never call you asking for
sensitive information. And technology companies won’t call you out of
9
the blue to offer you technical support or assistance. Avoid giving money
to someone over the phone, especially wire transfers, gift cards, and fines
or bail. When you start hearing that recorded voice, the best thing to do
is to say nothing and just hang up.
¾ Log out. Remember to log out of apps and websites when you are done
using them. Leaving them open on your computer screen could make you
vulnerable to security and privacy risks
